(Research):Mary POYNTZ (of Iron Acton) married secondly John SYDENHAM. It was Mary who was BURIED on the 7th October 1591. Their daughter Anne married John POYNTZ (of Reigate) on 27 July 1598. Their 6th child was Newdigate, he was baptised on the 8th November 1608, married 1stly Sarah Foxley (d 31 May 1636), 2ndly (after 30 Jan 1636/7) Ann Forest and 3rdly (21 Dec 1637) Mary Tadcastle. He was killed in action at Gainsborough on the 4th August 1643. (Sources: 'Family' and 'Burkes Landed Gentry 1952')
NEWDIGATE POYNTZ, of Benefield, Northamptonshire. Baptized 16 Nov 1608 at Reigate, co. Surrey; died 5 Aug 1643 at the siege of Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, by forces of Oliver Cromwell, while serving as a Captain in the Royal Army. His will, dated 26 Mar 1639, was proved 27 Feb 1645 and therein he requested he be "buried in the School at Benefield, it being part of the Church, near my first wife and our two children."
