About Catherine-Marie Marchand
Catherine was not a fille du roi. I found a book on the Internet through Quintin Publications, Inc on Before the King's Daughters. www.quintinpublications.com You can view the list of females that were the brave pioneers that came over previous to 1663. The King's Daughters were from 1663-1673. Catherine Marchand was a "Filles de Marier" which were females that were sponsored by religious groups. Catherine came to the New France on the St. Andre 1659 and married Laurent Archambault. Catherine was believed to be an orphan at the age of 10 in St. Germain district of Paris France. She wa baptized at St. Sulpice Church parish in St. Germain. Her father was Pierre Marchand and mother Genevieve Lespine.
NOTE: THIS CATHERINE WAS NOT THE SAME CATHERINE MARCHAND WHO MARRIED PIERRE BERGERON

Several sources name Catherine as one of the "Filles a Marier", or marriageable girls, who made the journey to New France to wed one of the many male settlers already living there.
