MODIFYING NOTE (2013.06.01): The Dennstedt Research Team concluded that Abraham, son of Philemon I, married first a sister of Edward and Samuel Matthews and daughter of Capt. Edward Matthews. By her he had sons Henry and Philemon who can be identified as selling portions of the land that Edward and Samuel gave to Abraham ("for valuable consideration"). Dennstedt attributed this land deed as being to Abraham II, but it clearly does not match the land in his will on which Dennstedt made her comments regarding the portion Henry sold.
In conducting cursory research on various family trees on the Internet, we can speculate that this "Unknown" Matthews female was either Sarah or Mary Matthews and was the daughter of Captain Edward Matthews (1650 to 1707) and his wife Sarah Bishop (1645 to 1710). This Sarah or Mary Matthews had one sister and four brothers; Edward (1690 to 1726), Thomas (1694 to 1753), Henry (b. 1696) andd Samuel (b. 1699).
