ATCHISON, KAN., NOV. 29 – Commodore True, a colored man, killed a man at Hiawatha last night and shortly afterward was lynched by a colored mob. True had been ejected from a Thanksgiving social given by the colored Methodists of the town, because he was raising a disturbance. He returned and fatally stabbed Will Walthall, the deacon who had ejected him. True was arrested, but was taken from jail and strung up to a tree. His body was riddled with bullets."
