About Dúngal mac Cinaeda
Dúngal
There are no sources verifying the existence of this person - please post if you have any.
From Wikipedia: The only event reported in Kenneth's reign is the killing of Dúngal mac Cináeda by Gille Coemgáin mac Cináeda, by the Annals of the Four Masters s.a. 999. It is not certain that this refers to events in Scotland, and whether one or both were sons of this Kenneth, or of Kenneth II of Scotland, or some other person or persons, is not known.[8][9] http://www.ucc.ie/celt/published/T100005B/index.html
The entry is very bald: Dunghal, son of Cinaedh, was slain by Gillacaeimhghin, son of Cinaedh. (M998.14)
Possibly this was a purely Irish fratricide or cousin-cide, but all three names are found more commonly in Scotland, and there certainly were two rival mac Cinaeda families in Scotland at this time (Kenneth II and sons vs. Kenneth III and sons).
