GEDCOM Note

Most sources claim his name was Yosef and was Rabbi in Holleschau (Holesov), the same city where the Shach served as Rabbi.

Research has shown that in the time between the Shach and 1841 there were only two Rabbis, in Holleschau, with the name Yosef, R' Yosef Oppenheim (1710-14) and R' Yosef Freistadt, (1760-65).

R' Yosef Freistadt was born in the early 1700 and was married to Tamar the daughter of R Avraham Katz the son of Moshe Katz the son of the Shach (Netzer Sharashim).
