Donald married Ann at age 20 in Ardtoe. He probably became a stone mason because of the lack pf arable land. He later married Catherine in 1836 after Ann had died.
Old Donald was part of a mass migration on the Brilliant of his clan from Mull arriving Sydney 20 January 1838. It was reported he was a nephew ofJean Cameron, wife of Dr Achibalb cameron, Brother of Donald Cameron the "Gentle Lochiel" later 19th clan chief. See Clan Cameron website. Both brothers took prominent roles in the1745 highland rebelion. After its suppression both brothers sheltered in Francein 1746. 1753 Archibald returned to raise money & was captured, king George ordering his death under the act ofRetainder. His body was quartered. In 1832 there was a cholea outbreak & famine in1836, all part of the clearance of the clans involved in Culloden. Don did have a bridge built in Ardnamurchal before leaving, I have spoken to people from the area that say it is still there. Don married Ann Mc Pherson in 1798, Catherine McPerson 1836.
Donald was an under manager in theA.A. Company (Australian Agricultural) probably assisted by Campbel Drummond Riddell who was the owner of the Camisaine estate, after it was mortgaged by Donalds family to support Prince Charles, as he was the Colonial secretary at the time. After 1844 donald established his home at Waterhole Reach, on the Karuah River upstream from Booral, probably where Cameron's Creek joins the river. Waterhole Teach eventualy became known as Allworth.
