Edna Estelle Wike, 91, of Hayesville, passed away Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009 at Murphy Medical Center.

She was born Tuesday, Jan. 16, 1917 in Clay County, N.C. to the late
Avery Scroggs and the late Eva Curtis Scroggs. She was the oldest living member of New Hope Church. She enjoyed cooking and sewing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Wike; son-in-laws, Rev. Raymond McCray and James A. Thomas; great-granddaughter, Katelyn Hayes; sisters, Jessie Berrong and Beulah Voyles and brothers, Fred and Jeff Scroggs.

Surviving are a son, Eugene Wike of Hayesville; daughter, Jo Ann Wike Thomas of Talking Rock, Ga.; daughter, Faye Wike McCray of Hayesville; son, Ernest Wike of Hayesville; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 13, at 2 p.m. at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Aud Brown officiating. Music was provided by Daniel Wike and Aud and Becky Brown. Interment followed in New Hope Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Daniel Wike, Gregory Wike, Dale Scroggs, Brett McCray, Don Berrong and Tim Hayes.

Arrangements entrusted to the Cochran Funeral Home of Murphy.
