Alternate Thought

The Benedict Family Website insists that her name is Stephen. Olsen LaRue says it's Stephin. Others have said Stephenson. Look at the register.

William Benedict marriage

"William Benedic and Elizabeth Steph?n [o or e not i] son were mariyed the eight day of October a etc. [abbrev. for Anno Domine]

On the second line "son" as a stray word makes no sense in this context but a "run on" Stephenson does make sense.

Elizabeth Stephins, daughter of John and Anne was bpt St. Michael Long Stratton, 14 Sep 1578.[1]

Elizabeth Stephinson, daughter of Robert, was bpt 21 April 1584, St. Michael Long Stratton,[2]

The Benedict Topics has conflated the two. "Elizabeth Stephin, dau. of John and Anne (Tovye) Stephin of Long Stratton, Norfolk; she was bapt. 21 Apr 1584 at Stratton"[3]
