About Erik Bruhn
Erik Bruhn was a Danish danseur, choreographer, artistic director, actor, and author.
During his career, he was an international phenomenon and regarded by many as the finest dancer in the world. He danced with the Royal Danish Ballet, the American Ballet Theatre, the Metropolitan Ballet, the New York City Ballet, the Joffrey Ballet, the National Ballet of Canada, the Paris Opera Ballet, and London's Royal Ballet. He served as director of the Swedish Opera Ballet and the National Ballet of Canada.
Bruhn met Rudolf Nureyev, the celebrated Russian dancer, after Nureyev defected to the West in 1961. They became the love of each other's life and remained together until Bruhn's death.
