Giles Rickard was born in England in about 1624, a son of Giles Rickard and Judith (Cogan) Rickard.[1]

The family emigrated to New England in 1637, aboard the Speedwell, which departed from Weymouth, Dorset, on 22 April 1637.[1] Their party included parents Giles Sr and Judith Rickard and their three children, plus one boy and one maid. According to Stratton, the three children were sons Giles Rickard and John Rickard, and Samuel King, Judith's son by her first marriage. The family settled in Plymouth, Massachusetts.[1]

According to the Vital Records of Plymouth, Giles Rickard married Hannah Dunham in Plymouth on 31 October 1651.[2][3]

Giles Rickard wrote his will on 9 February 1701/2 and died in Plymouth, Massachusetts, some time before 18 December 1702, when the will was proved in Plymouth. [4][5]

In his will, Giles appointed his wife Hannah Rickard as his sole executrix. Other heirs named in the will are sons Giles Rickard, John Rickard, Henery Rickard, Samuell Rickard, Eliazer Rickard, and Josiah Rickard; and four daughters, Abigaill (also spelled Abigall), Judith (also spelled Judeth), Hannah (also spelled Hanah), and Marcy (also spelled Marsy). [4]

After the death of his widow, Joseph Hanes and Judah Hanes his wife gave bond for administration of the residue of his estate on 28 April 1709. Distribution of the estate was completed on 25 June 1709. According to Giles' will the residue of the estate, which amounted to 30 pounds, was to be distributed to his four daughters. The probate record states, "One of [the daughters] being deceased, the said Sum to be divided in to three parts, viz to Judith Hanes, to Abigall Whiting, to Hannah Eaton."[4]
