He lived in the Austell area. In 1885, he donated the land for the Austell School and the Austell Methodist Church. Mozley Street is named in his honor.

On 22 February, 1896, he donated land for the congregation of the St Paul AME church to have a place to worship. Previously, the church was meeting in a tent on Sweetwater Creek.

Married Nancy Ann White in 1852. Married Sarah Elizabeth Maroney on 21 Dec 1866.
