About Graciana Callado Llanos
Graciana Llanos brought her entire family, including 3 of her Causin children, with her to Hawaii (February 12, 1918), aboard the S.S. Mongolia. This was after a spat with Procopio, she married one of her servants (Quinto) who was much younger than she, and he became part of the entourage. The Cousin children assumed the name of Quinto. (Documented from an e-mail by Chita Caindec, dated 1/27/2001)

Graciana was 16 when she first met the rich Procopio Causin. They never got married as he was already married and had a family in Minglanillia (about ½ car ride from Barili), It was common, in those days, among the rich to have multi-families. After having 3 children, Donato, Mary Carmen, and Dolores, she discovered that Procopio was married and therefore did not want to have anything to do with him. He retaliated by taking the children and hiring a body-guard to watch over them in another household, and not allowing Graciana to see them, In her determination, she enticed the body guard to go with her father and his family to Hawaii. To make things legal, they got married, took the 3 children with them along with her father, Crispolo Llanos, 3 brothers and 1 sister, and 2 half sisters to Hawaii, where large sugar cain companies were looking for laborers. They settle in the plantation called Ewa, where the men worked. Tatay Ipong (Crispolo) did not work but was able to come along with his large family.
