Death

A date and place of death has not been identified for Dame Grizel Hamilton. She was alive on 25 September 1568 NRS: RH6/2130 but died before 18 August 1573, the date upon which her widowed husband was contracted to marry his second wife, Jean, daughter of Patrick, Lord Ruthven. 27 September 1568: Charter by Andrew, Earl of Rothes lord Leslie, granting to Andrew Leslie, his son, in liferent, the lands and mill of Kilmany, in the regality of St Andrews and sheriffdom of Fyiff. To be held de me, for service aucht and wont. Reserving the liferent to Dame Grisil Hammiltoun, wife of said earl. Provided that said earl might have regress to said lands on payment of £5 Scots. With precept of Sasine directed to John Young.
