About Hekemaru
"...Pāoa was the youngest child of Hekemaru from Te Arawa and Heke-i-te-Rangi of Tainui. Ngāti Pāoa tradition states that the union of Hekemaru and Heke-i-te-Rangi brought all of the ancestral canoes together." (Ngāti Pāoa et al., 2021).
