born in Germany probably at the end of October, migrated from Virginia to Ohio with many members of his family; served in Michael Reader's Company in Revolutionary War. There is a plaque placed by the Urbana Chapter DAR (Henry Pence)

marched as major to fort Pitt again having under his Command two Companies of Men under the Command of Capts. John Roush & Abraham Byrd after arriveing at fort Pitt they were ordered to proceed to a place called Carnes fort on Dickards Creek about six miles from Morgantown [sic: Fort Kern on Deckers Creek at present Westover WV just across the Monongahela River from Morgantown] and took the Command of the fort where the term of Service Expired —

immigrant after arriving in Pennsylvania Henry settled in Virginia and eventually settled in Nettle Creek township, Champaign County, Ohio with many other Shenandoah Valley (Va.) families in 1805. He served in Michael Rader's Company in the Revolutionary War.

His wife was Mary Blimly, who died 1829 "in her 80th year".
