A photo of the stone prior to the words being painted shows clearly that there is no "ל" in the year of death. Comparing with the rest of the stone, based on the "font" on the stone and the width and shape of the letter in question, it would be a "ס" (samach) that was partly eroded. After this analysis, the year תרס"ט also matches perfectly with the surrounding facts (i.e. father's year of death, births of her children, births of the grandchild named for her...)
