About "Jack" Harry Agron
Merchant Agron Dies; Rites Today. Funeral services were held today for J. Harry Agron, builder and former owner of the 22nd Street and Apache Drive-In theaters. Mr. Agron, 63, of 3324 E. 1st St., died yesterday at St. Joseph's Hospital after a long illness. A native of Russia, Mr. Agron was brought at the age of 4 by his parents to St. Joseph, Mo. He was educated in the public schools there and became associated with the restaurant business. Moving to Tucson with his wife, Ruth, and son, Gary, in 1950, he recognized Tucson's need for outdoor movie theaters and built the 22nd Street Theater. He sold it a few months later. He owned the Apache Drive-In until he recently sold it to the Cactus Corp. At the time of his death, Mr. Agron owned Furniture Liquidators, Speedway and Tucson Blvds. He was a member of Ansbei Israel Congregation. Until his illness he had been active in City of Hope. Besides his widow and son, Mr. Agron is survived by two brothers, Meyer and Jule, both of Tucson, and two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Katcher, Tucson, and Mrs. Isdadore Dunn, Kansas City. Services were at Arizona Mortuary Eastside Chapel. Intenment was in Evergreen Cemetery.
