About Jacob Süskind Stern
I have about 60 pages of the Schutzbriefe of Jacob Stern of Soest. It concerns the payment of Schutzgeld and Law cases against him, covering the period November 1711, January - March 1712, and June - December 1723. I got these Documents from the Geheime Staatsarchiv Berlin. He bought 22 Thomaestrasse Soest in 1705. He was in partnership with the son of the Court Jew Jost Liebmann of Berlin. In 1720 there were 3 Jewish Families in Soest 1) Abraham Meyer who died in 1720 2) Jacob Stern 3) Abraham Cosman Levi In 1731 there were 20 Jewish people. In 1704 the widow of the Hofjude Jost Liebmann with her son Benjamin Wolf Liebmann and his partner Jacob Stern moved from Frankfurt am Main to Soest. When Liebmann leaves town, Jacob takes over his Schutz privilge.
