James was convicted of burglary (with Thomas TILL) and was sentenced to 7 years transportation. He arrived in Sydney Cove on 26/1/1788 on "Scarborough"
On 4/3/1790 sent to Norfolk Island on "Sirius" and returned to Sydney on "Kitty" in March 1793
James died December 1838 Sydney and was buried 28/12/1838
