James Hamilton of Allanshaw died intestate in February 1666. Bessie Strang, his widow, who was recognised as his executrix dative by the Commissary Court of Hamilton and Campsie, gave up his testament dative and inventory on 5 September 1666. Financial provision was made for children, as was required by law, but the names of surviving children are not recorded. John Struthers, maltman burgess of Hamilton, acted himself as cautioner for Bessie Strang and confirmation was granted to her on 9 October 1667. His testament dative and Inventory was given up by his widow, Jonet Rae, on 17 November 1653, who was recognised as his only executor dative by the Glasgow Commissary Court. Financial provision was made for children, as was required by law, but the name or names of the beneficiaries are not recorded. James Hamilton of Allanshaw acted himself as cautioner for Jonet Rae and confirmation was granted to her on 21 November 1653.
