James Johnstone of Johnstone, younger was born before 31 October 1539.2 He was the son of John Johnstone of Johnstone and Elizabeth Jardine.2 He married Margaret Hamilton, daughter of Sir John Hamilton and Janet Home, before 1552.1 He died before May 1552.2 He was Laird of Johnstone.1
