https://genealogics.org/getperson.php?personID=I00082280&tree=LEO
BIOGRAPHY James Leslie, master of Rothes, was the son and heir of Andrew Leslie, 5th earl of Rothes, and his wife Grizel Hamilton.
On 11 January 1575 he contracted to marry Margaret Lindsay, daughter of Patrick, 6th lord Lindsay of The Byres, and Euphemia Douglas. They became the parents of two sons and four daughters. He was Sheriff of Fife and provost of Cupar; in 1578 he attended Parliament. In 1584 he withdrew from 'the Courtiers' party'. Having become a widower, he married in 1594 the Hon. Catherine Drummond, daughter of Patrick, 3rd lord Drummond, and Lady Elizabeth Lindsay. By his second wife he became father of a son and a daughter. James Leslie, master of Rothes, apparently died in 1607.
