James Parker's will, dated November 8 1833, was produced in Bedford County court on November 25 1833 where it was recorded as part of probate following his death.

I James Parker of Bedford County and State of Virginia being of perfect mind and memory doth make this my last will & Testament. I do give to my son Nathaniel one dollar. I give the balance of the portion of my Estate which would be coming to him to his children that he had by his first wife. I also give my daughter Roda my young sorrel mare. Then all the balance of my property to be sold and equally divided between her and the rest of my children. So witness my hand this 8th day of November 1833.

At a Court held for Bedford County at the Courthouse the 25th day of November 1833. This last will and Testament of James Parker deceased was produced in Court, and proved by the oaths of James Roy and Samuel Tate the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded and on the motion of Edmund Estes who made oath and gave bond and Security according to law, certificate is granted him for obtaining letters of administration on the estate of the said James Parker deceased, with the will awarded(?)
