About Johann George Loesch
1758 letters that Spangenberg wrote to Jacob Loesch re brothers. In the Feb. 6 1758 letter Spangenberg writes: "The most recent news that I can send you is this, that your br.'s wife's dissolution has resulted from smallpox; and I am told that she nevertheless ended her earthly pilgrimage in a very fine way. Ah yes: at the appointed end all gravitate into His hands whom He once made the object of his love!" He goes on in the same letter to say: "As to the rest, your dear father continues to reside in Tulpehockin and should your mother have 'gone home' (she was very ill recently) who knows whether he might not have settled down even more. What do you think about it?".
In the next letter to him, dated June15, 1758, Spangenberg writes: "We are keeping your brother Hermann here this time, but we are sending you your brother George, who has accepted the offer gladly, I hear. We were indeed willing to bring your father and mother to Bethlehem; they were to build their own little house here, like Bro. Horsfield, and live by themselves. This has been offered to them, but they have not yet decided to [do] it. Your mother would really like it, but your father is afraid he might not make it.".
