3. Mary J. Beard;
4. Alexander Beard.

John married Nancy Beard (Hutchinson) on August 15, 1839 in Williamson County, Tennessee, United States. Together they had the following children:

1. Jacob Beard;
2. Moses Beard;
3. Rhoda Margaret Starkey (Beard);
4. Nancy Ann Polk Beard;
5. Phillip R. Beard;
6. Rachel C. Beard;
7. Thomas Jefferson Beard;
8. James Buchanan Beard;
9. Malinda C. Beard;
10. Julia Wagner (Beard).

After the death of Nancy, he moved to Kentucky with some of the younger children and is seen in the 1870 census in Graves County, KY, United States. Later, in the 1880 census, he is as John Beard seen a widowed basket maker on the same page as his widowed daughter-in-law Tabitha.
