Biography
John was born about 1636 in Cambridge, Middlesex, Massachusetts Colony of Percival Green and Ellen Unknown. [1] [2]
1681:May He succeeded his father- in-law as marshal general of the Colony. [2] [3]
1687: He was superseded in office by Samuel Gookin in 1687 but was reinstated Aug. 15, 1689. [2] [3]
He married at Cambridge on Oct. 20, 1656 , Ruth Mitchelson/Michelson, daughter of Edward and Ruth Michelson. [1] [2]
He died March 3, 1691 [2]and was buried in the Old Burying Ground at Cambridge. His Inscription Reads: HERE LYES BURIED THE BODY OF IOHN GREEN AGED 55 YEARS DECEASED YE 3 OF MARCH 1691 [4] [5]
An inventory of his estate was made April 4, 1691. It was appraised at L85 16s 6d. Among the items were a house & orchard with priviledge in the Towne Comons L20; and sixteen acres of land on Cambridge Rocks L14. [2]
His widow married second, Samuel Champney of Cambridge. [2] [6]
