John Hitt (Peter /Hitt/, Johan Jacob /Hitt/, Jacob /Hitt/, Balthasar /Hitt/) was born 1715 in Germanna, Essex, Va., and died BEF 14 Nov 1782 in Fauquier, Va.

Member of F. City militia in 1761 and has record during Fr. and Indian War according to B. Littlefield. Baptist church organizer and listed as a patriot for his allegiance to Va. in preference to English Gov. C. Betts shows he received a negro woman, Judy and boy George in his father's will. MR Hitt says first wife unknown. married second to Mary ? who was born about 1736. Mary married second in 1791, Fauquier. Co. Va. to John Shaw.

His issue with first wife according to Germanna Record # 1 p 12 were John,Jr. b 1740, Charles b 1750 and Mary Anne b c 1755.

By Mary ? were Peter b 1756, Elias b 1762 Martin b c 1764, Aaron b c 1765, and Susannah b c1766.

Earl Hitt says first wife Sarah Pace [NO] (not Sarah Day Pace who married another Hitt).

Pr Wm is now part of Fau. Co. He was made guardian of youngersister Susannah upon death of his father in 1806.

John was never married to a Sarah Day, or Sarah Day Pace. Sarah (Day) Pace first married Richard Pace and married second to a John Hitt, son of HARMON HITT and MARY WEAVER. John, son of PETER HITT was married twice - to a Sarah, then a Mary - neither wife identified by any record. A VERY DIFFERENT John Hitt was married to Sarah (Day) Pace who was first married to Richard Pace - THAT John was the son of Harmon Hitt & Mary Weaver.
