8 March 1615: Charter by which John Stewarte of Ardmolies, sheriff of Bute, confirms that he has given various lands in liferent to his wife Elizabeth Hepburn (marriage contract dated 9 March 1613). The lands in question included the five pound land of Ardmoleis, the five merk land of Mekill Barron, the forty shilling land of Mid Ascok, the forty shilling land of Grenan, the five and one half merkland of Corrigillis, with the Castle of Rothesay, the forty shilling land of Dunalun, and the thirty-three shilling four penny land of Cogach, all located within the sheriffdom of Bute. Elizabeth Hepburn is identified as the eldest lawful daughter of the deceased Robert Hepburn of Furde. His charter was confirmed under the Great Seal of Scotland on 26 April 1615. Sir John Stuart of Ardmaleish was the son of John Stewart of Ardmaleish and Mary Campbell. He died on 31 March 1619. He married Elizabeth Hepburn, daughter of Robert Hepburn of Fuird. Child of Sir John Stuart of Ardmaleish and Elizabeth Hepburn: Sir James Stuart of Ardmaleish, 1st Bt. d. 1662. He held the office of Sheriff of Bute.
