Jorma Uotinen

Jorma Leo Kalevi Uotinen is a Finnish dancer, singer and choreographer. As a dancer and choreographer, Uotinen has worked both in many dance groups, both in and outside of Finland, since 1970. He has received many Finnish and international awards and honours in his career.

He was a dancer with the Finnish National Ballet 1970-1976, and in 1976 he was invited by director Carolyn Carlson to join the Groupe de recherche Theatrales at l'Opera de Paris, where he worked until 1980.

He has worked as artistic director in the Helsinki City Theatre dance group (1987–1990), at the Finnish National Ballet (1992–2001) and the Kuopio Dance Festival (2000-). He has successfully made use of his international connections in directing these institutions, e.g. by inviting Sylvie Guillem to stage her version of Giselle at the Finnish National Ballet in 1998.

After an active career as a dancer, Uotinen has moved to perform by singing.

Uotinen was a judge in the 2006, 2007 and 2008 seasons of Tanssii tähtien kanssa, the Finnish version of Dancing With the Stars.

Uotinen is bisexual. He was in a relationship with Finnish singer Helena Lindgren whom he lived with for almost 20 years.

Uotinen is UNICEF ambassador of good will. In 2007, he was a voiceover actor in Rottatouille, the Finnish version of Ratatouille.

Jorma Leo Kalevi Uotinen on suomalainen tanssija, laulaja ja koreografi. Hän on toiminut taiteellisena johtajana Helsingin kaupunginteatterin tanssiryhmässä (1987–1990), Suomen Kansallisbaletissa (1992–2001) ja Kuopio Tanssii ja Soi -festivaaleilla (2002–). Hänelle myönnettiin professorin arvonimi toukokuussa 2012.

Tanssijana ja koreografina Uotinen on toiminut Suomessa ja ulkomailla vuodesta 1970 alkaen useissa eri tanssiryhmissä. Hän on saanut urallaan useita suomalaisia ja kansainvälisiä palkintoja sekä kunniamainintoja.

Menestyksellisen taiteellisen uransa lisäksi Jorma Uotinen on tuttu monista tv- ja radio-ohjelmista.

Uotinen on myös esiintynyt laulajana. Vuonna 1998 hän julkaisi albumin Tunteiden taivas ja vuonna 2006 albumin Sentimental Secrets.

Йорма Лео Калеви Уотинен (фин. Родился 28 июня 1950 года в городе Пори, в Финляндии.

Обучался в Женеве у Сержа Головина.

С 1970 года в качестве артиста балета выступал в различных коллективах Финляндии и за границей: с 1970 по 1976 годы — в Финском национальном балете; с 1976 по 1980 годы по приглашению Каролин Карлсон работал в Центре театральных исследований парижской Оперы, занимался постановками в парижском театре Буфф дю Нор, а с 1980 по 1981 годы — в венецианском театре Ла Фениче, миланском Ла Скала, в Цюрихе и Берлине.

С 1987 по 1990 годы работал директором Хельсинкского городского театра, а с 1992 по 2001 годы — художественным руководителем Финского национального балета.

С 2002 года является художественным руководителем международного фестиваля танца в Куопио.[3]

С 2006 года является членом жюри в финской версии телевизионного шоу «Танцы со звёздами» (фин. Tanssii tähtien kanssa).

В 1998 году записал сольный альбом «Tunteiden taivas», а в 2006 году альбом «Sentimental Secrets».
