

Judith Vassall White was the wife of "Mayflower" passenger Resolved White.
Born 1619, Essex, England. Died 3 April 1670, Plymouth Colony, Massachusetts.
Daughter of William and Anna (King/Kinge) Vassall of Essex, England, later Plymouth County, Massachusetts, and Barbados and granddaughter of John Vassall, who was born 1548 and died September 13, 1625 Essex Co. England (Virginia Company Stockholder. Her grandfather, John Vassall landed at Jamestown Colony in 1607, an approved ancestor. By tracing Judith Vassall White to her father, William Vassall, then to John Vassall. Descendents can then be approved to join the Jamestowne Colony Society as well as the Mayflower Society.( notes by Sharon Tonetta Penner.
Arrived in Massachusetts in 1635 aboard the "Blessing," along with her parents and siblings (her father, William, as a leader of the Massachusetts Bay Company, had made an earlier voyage to Massachusetts in 1630 before returng to England for his family).
Married on 5 November 1640 in Plymouth, Plymouth County, Massachusetts to Resolved White, son of William White and Susannah Fuller.

Judith "arose in meeting in Scituate once and censured the men for their unchristian persecution of the Quakers." It has been said that she was the first woman in New England to have the nerve to arise and address a meeting of men. It is also said that she had a great influence on Josiah Winslow in his treatment of Indians and of Quakers.
