About Lady Eleanor Butler, Countess of Wiltshire
Eleanor Beaufort (1431–16 Aug 1501) was the daughter of Edmund Beaufort, 2nd Duke of Somerset and his second wife, Lady Eleanor Beauchamp, Duchess of Somerset.
Eleanor married Sir Robert Spencer in about 1470. They had two daughters:
- Catherine Spencer (1477–1542), who married Henry Percy, 5th Earl of Northumberland.
- Margaret Spencer (c 1472) who married Thomas Carey.

Eleanor Beaufort (1431–16 Aug 1501) was the daughter of Edmund Beaufort, 2nd Duke of Somerset and his second wife, Lady Eleanor Beauchamp, Duchess of Somerset. She was a sister of the 3rd and 4th Dukes of Somerset.
In 1453, Eleanor's husband was Lieutenant of Ireland. When conflict broke out, the lieutenant fought on the Lancastrian side. He was present at the first battle of St. Albans in 1455, Mortimer's Cross in 1461 and at the battle of Towton. Ormond also held the post of councillor to the Lancastrian Prince of Wales. After Towton, he was a proscribed traitor and was captured the same year at Cockermouth and executed there in 1461.[citation needed]
Eleanor married James Butler, 1st Earl of Wiltshire and 4th Earl of Ormond, K.G., on or around April 1458.[1]
Eleanor next married Sir Robert Spencer in about 1470. They had two daughters:
* Catherine Spencer (1477–1542), who married Henry Percy, 5th Earl of Northumberland.
* Margaret Spencer (c 1472) who married Thomas Carey.

Eleanor Beaufort was the daughter of Sir Edmund Beaufort, 1st Duke of Somerset and Lady Eleanor Beauchamp.
1 She married, firstly, James Butler, 5th Earl of Ormonde, son of James Butler, 4th Earl of Ormonde and Elizabeth Beauchamp, circa April 1458 at Woodsford, Dorset, England.2
She married, secondly, Sir Robert Spencer circa 1470.2 She died on 16 August 1501.2
From circa April 1458, her married name became Butler.

Edmund Beaufort, 2nd Duke of Somerset married before 1436, Lady Eleanor Beauchamp, widow of Thomas, 8th Lord Ros, daughter of Richard de Beauchamp, 13th Earl of Warwick and his first wife, Elizabeth, daughter and heir of Thomas, Lord Berkeley. Eleanor was an older half-sister of Henry de Beauchamp, 1st Duke of Warwick and Anne Neville, Countess of Warwick.
Their unlicensed marriage was later pardoned on 7 March 1438, and they had the following children:
Eleanor – married first James Butler, 5th Earl of Ormonde and second Sir Robert Spencer.
Elizabeth (d. before 1472) – married Sir Henry Fitz Lewis.

He married Catherine Spencer, daughter of Sir Robert Spencer of Spencer Court and Lady Eleanor Beaufort. Her maternal grandparents were Edmund Beaufort, 2nd Duke of Somerset and Eleanor Beauchamp.
