About Maj. Aaron Cook
Aaron Cook, son of Aaron Cooke and Elizabeth Charde, was baptized at Bridport,Co. Dorset Mar 20, 1613/4, and died 5 Sept. 1690 in Northampton, Hampshire, Massachusetts Bay.
Aaron Cook Jr served in King Philip's War. He commanded the garrison at Westfield in 1675.
Aaron's first wife was NOT Mary Ford, daughter of Thomas Ford and Joane Waye Ford. That's been disproved. We don't know who Aaron's first wife was, but many people link Mary Ford as the first wife of Aaron due to a misreading of Thomas Ford's will where he mentioned his 'son-in-law Aaron'. However, it was later found that Aaron's mother, Elizabeth, was Thomas Ford's second wife. Aaron was Thomas' son-in-law, not because he married Thomas' daughter Mary, but because Thomas had married Aaron's mother.
Aaron's second wife was Joan Denslow Cook, daughter of Nicholas Denslow and Elizabeth Doling Denslow. Joan and her 3 children with Aaron are mentioned in her mother Elizabeth Denslow's will. Joan died April 1676 at Westfield,MA. The case against Joan being Aaron's first wife is proven by the will of her mother, who mentions the 3 grandchildren (Samuel, Elizabeth, and Noah), and if Joan had been the mother of all of Aaron's children, the older children would mostly likely also been mentioned (presumably).
His third wife, whom he married Dec 2,1676, was Elizabeth Nash Cook, daughter of John Nash and Elizabeth Tapp Nash of New Haven,CT. She died Sept 3, 1687 and is probably buried beside Aaron in Northampton.
His fourth and final wife, whom he married Oct 2,1688, was Rebecca Foote Smith Cook, widow of Philip Smith, and daughter of Nathaniel Foote and Elizabeth Deming Foote.
Aaron Cook was the son of Aaron Cook and Elizabeth Charde Cook of Bridport,Co.Dorset, England.
