Margaret de Bonkyl (b. ca 1249 - d. 1305)[2]; Daughter and heiress of Sir Alexander de Bonkyl (d. 1300) and unknown mother; Margaret married, firstly, (ca 1288)[2] Sir John Stewart (ca 1245 – 22 July 1298), second son [2]of Alexander Stewart 4th High Steward of Scotland and unknown mother; they had 7 children [2]: Sir Alexander (d. 1309) – succeeded his mother (1305) in the barony of Bonkyl; had 2 children John Stewart (created 1st Earl of Angus 1329; died 1331) and Isabel who married the Earl of Mar ; Sir Alan (died 19 July 1333), ancestor of Earls of Lennox and James VI; Sir Walter, ancestor of Earls of Galloway; Sir James (died 19 July 1333), ancestor of Stewart Lords of Lorne, Earls of Atholl and Earls of Buchan; Sir John (died 19 July 1333); Isabella m. Thomas Randolph 1st Earl of Moray (d 1332); Sir Robert; Sir Hugh.
Margaret “heir of Bonkyl and widow of Sir John Stewart” [3] married, secondly (1299), Sir David de Brechin (b. bef 1278 – executed 1320)[3]; they had one daughter: Margaret de Brechin (b. ca 1300, and married (1315) Sir David de Barclay who “received Brechin’s lands from Robert I”). Margaret de Bonkyl died 1305 and Sir David married as his second wife Margery Ramsay [1].
