15 June 1485: Notarial instrument narrating discharge by Adam Conynghame of Caprotone to Marjory Bircla of Kilbirny of 100 merks beyond the sum contained in a bond by said Marjory for marriage of Adam Conynghame, eldest son of said Adam, to Isobel Craufurde, daughter of said Marjory. Witnesses: John Valles of Cragy, John Kennade of Culyane, David Blair of Adamtone, Malcolm Craufurde of Grenoc, David Bercla of Ladelande, Quentin Quhitfurde, son of John Quhitfurde of that ilk. 24 April 1499: Charter by which Marjorie Berclay, the lady of Kilbirny, confirms that she has given the lands of Kilbirny in the bailliery of Cunningham and sheriffdom of Ayr, to Malcolmo Craufurde of Grenok, her eldest son and apparent heir: " filio suo primogenito et heredi apparent." Marjorie Berclay reserved her own liferent of a twenty pound land there. The charter was issued at the principal manor house of Kilbirny. Among the witnesses present were Marjorie Berclay's sons, Thomas Crawfurde and James Crawfurde, identified as: "filiis naturalibus dicte Marjorie. This charter was confirmed under the Great Seal of Scotland on 4 May 1499. RMS 1424-1513: charter number 2490

24 April 1499: Charter by which Marjorie Berclay, the lady of Kilbirny, confirms that she has given to her son Malcolm Crawfurde, and his heirs, her half of the land and barony of Craufurde-Johnne, together with one half of the patronage of the parish church of Craufurde-Johnne, in the sheriffdom of Lanark.
