Had 5 children. She apparently had great difficulty in conducting the affairs of her household and repeatedly beseeched her mother to send her "a good and lusty servant". On Apr. 28, 1636 she wrote, "I am forced to crave your help as speedily as maybe, my mayde being to goe away upon Mayday and I am likely to be altogether destitute. I cannot get her to staye a monthe longer...My husband is willing to stand what you shall think meet to give...I desire that the mayde you provide me may be one that hath been used to all kinds of work and must refuse none. If she have skill in the dayrie I shall be the gladder". When a 'mayde' was secured and sent down, however, she proved to be not at all the treasure desired though "at her first coming she carried herself dutifully as became a servant. But since through mine and my husband's forbearance toward her for small faults she has got such a head, and is growen soe insolent that her carriage toward us, especially myselfe, is insufferable. If I bid her doe a thing she will bid me doe it myselfe, and she says she can give content as well as any servant but she will not and says if I love not quietness I was never so fitted in my life for she would make me have enough of it...If I tell my husband of her behavior to me upon examination shee will denie all that she has done and spoken so that we know not how to proceed against her".
