Obituary
On Sunday last the remains of one of the very old settlers of the Peninsula were interred in the Little River Church yard, in the person of Mrs R. Harris. Amongst her descendants are Mr E. W Harris, of Okain's, Mrs Hammond, senr., of German Bay, Mrs Radford, Little River, and Mrs Tom. Harris, of Head of the Bay. A large number of old friends of deceased and family followed the remains to the grave. The late Mrs Harris leaves some 240 descendants.

An old identity died at Little River on Saturday in the person of Mrs M. E. Harris, aged ninety-six years. She arrived in Lyttelton on June 6, 1851, in the ship Steadfast, with her husband and nine children. She leaves twelve children, 93 grandchildren, 124 great-grandchildren, and seventeen great-great-grandchildren living.
