She was the daughter of Sir William FitzHugh, 4th Lord FitzHugh and Margery Willoughby.

She married Sir William Bowes, Sheriff of Northumberland, son of Sir William Bowes, Sheriff of Northumberland and Joan Greystoke, circa 1445;

They had 5 sons (William, Esq; Robert; Thomas; Sir Ralph; & Henry) and 6 daughters (Margery, wife of Sir William Hilton; Joan, wife of Sir Ralph Bulmer; Katherine, wife of Sir Richard Conyers; Margaret, wife of Sir Humphrey Lisle; Isabel, wife of John Swynnow; & Anne, wife of Ralph Wycliffe).2,3,4,5,6,7

Maud FitzHugh died after 28 July 1466 at Streatlam Castle, Streatlam, Durham, England.6
