JOHANN von Kleve, son of ADOLF Duke of Kleve & his second wife Marie de Bourgogne [Valois-Capet] (Kleve 16 Feb 1419-5 Sep 1481). Wernher Teschenmacher’s Annales Cliviæ (1630s) records the birth “die S. Julianæ” 1419 of “Joannes, patris successor”, but the editor of the edition consulted quotes no earlier primary source which confirms this information[1511]. Duke of Kleve. married (contract Bruges 25 Mar 1455, Bruges 22 Apr 1455) ELISABETH de Nevers, daughter of JEAN de Nevers [later Comte de Nevers] [Bourgogne-Valois] & his first wife Jacqueline d’Ailly ([1439]-21 Jun 1483). The marriage contract between “Jean duc de Clèves et comte de la Mark” and “Elisabeth de Bourgogne, fille de Jean de Bourgogne comte d’Estampes et sgr de Dourdan, et de Jacqueline d’Ailly sa femme” is dated 25 Mar 1455[1512]. Heiress of Nevers and Eu.
Johann & his wife ELISABETH de Nevers had six children:

HERMANN von Hessen, son of LUDWIG II Landgraf Herr von Hessen zu Grebenstein & his wife his wife Elisabeth von Sponheim ([1342]-10 Jun 1413, bur Marburg Elisabethkirche). The Limburger Chronik records "Herman…lantgrebe zu Hessen" as one of the two sons of "lantgrebe Henrich…bruder…lantgrebe Ludewig" and his wife "eins greben dochter von Spanheim"[51]. Canon at Magdeburg Cathedral to 1367. Mitregent 1367. "Henricus...Lantgravius terre Hassie et Hermannus natus quondam Ludowici Lantgravii felicis recordationis fratris eius" confirmed foundations “in ecclesia parrochiali opidi nostri Alsfelt” by charter dated 3 May 1371[52]. He succeeded in 1376 as HERMANN II "der Gelehrte" Landgraf Herr von Hessen.
married firstly (Kassel [30 Jan/11 Feb] 1377) JOHANNA von Nassau-Weilburg, daughter of JOHANN I Graf von Nassau-Weilburg & his second wife Johanna von Saarbrücken (1362-Marburg 1 Jan 1383, bur [Marburg Elisabethkirche]). The Limburger Chronik records that "greben Johan von Nassauwe" married "von Sarbrucken…Johanna" who left two small daughters when she died, one of whom married "Herman lantgrebe zu Hessen" but died childless and the other "ein herre von Humburg in Sassenlande", and that he married secondly "jungher Philips ein wip von Spainheim"[53]. married secondly (Kulmbach 15 Oct 1383) MARGARETA von Nürnberg, daughter of FRIEDRICH V Burggraf von Nürnberg & his wife Elisabeth von Meissen ([1363]-Gudensberg 15 Jan 1406, bur Marburg Elisabethkirche).
Hermann II & his second wife MARGARETA von Nürnberg had eight children:

- 5. AGNES (1391-Münden 16 Jan 1471, bur Kassel St Martin). Botho’s Chronicon Brunsvicensium Picturatum records that “Herthoge Otto, des mechtigen Hertoghen Otten sone to Brunswick over Wolt to Gotting” married “Angenes des Lantgreven dochter to Hessen”[55]. married (Marburg 26 Sep 1406) OTTO "der Einäugige" Herzog von Braunschweig in Göttingen, son of OTTO "der Quade" Herzog von Braunschweig in Göttingen & his wife his second wife Margareta von Berg ([1384]-Uslar 18 Feb 1463).

Graf von Ziegenhain und Nidda 1450. married (Kassel 8 Sep 1433) ANNA von Sachsen, daughter of FRIEDRICH I "der Streitbare" Elector of Saxony & his wife his wife Katharina von Braunschweig (5 Jun 1420-17 Sep 1462, bur Spangenberg Stadtkirche). Ludwig III & his wife had five children:

Graf von Katzenelnbogen und Dietz 1479. married (contract 4 Jul 1446, St Goar 24 Jan 1458) ANNA von Katzenelnbogen, daughter of PHILIPP "dem Älteren" Graf von Katzenelnbogen & his first wife Anna von Württemberg (5 Sep 1443-Marburg 16 Feb 1494, bur Marburg Elisabethkirche). The marriage contract between "Landgraf Ludwig zu Hessen seinen Sohn Landgraf Henrich" and "Graf Philipps zu Katzenelnbogen Tochter Anna" is dated 4 Jul 1446[56].

He succeeded in 1489 as WILHELM III "der Jüngere" Landgraf von Hessen in Oberhessen, Katzenelnbogen und Dietz. married (Frankfurt-am-Main 16 Oct 1498) as her first husband, ELISABETH Pfalzgräfin, daughter of PHILIPP Elector Palatine & his wife Margareta von Bayern (Heidelberg 16 Nov 1483-Baden-Baden 24 Jun 1522, bur Baden-Baden Stiftskirche). She married secondly (3 Jan 1503) PHILIPP von Baden, who succeeded in 1515 as PHILIPP I Markgraf von Baden in Baden, ½ Eberstein, Lahr und Mahlberg.
