About Miriam pre-Luria
In the Landau Residence Privilege of 1427, which she obtained for her son and his wife and children, her name is clearly stated to have been Vergentlin, and not, as frequently assumed, Miriam. Vergentlin is the vernacular equivalent for the Hebrew name Chana.
[Dr. Jacobi, "The Historicity of the RaSHI Descent", Avotaynu Vol VI No1 p25]
אותה הרבנית מרת מרים נוחה עדן, תפסה ישיבה כמה ימים ושנים, וישבה באוהל, וילון לפניה, ואמרה הלכה לפני בחורים מופלגים
The same Rebbetzin, Maras Miriam (Nochah Adein) took charge in a yeshiva for many days and years, and sat in a tent behind a curtain and said a Halacha shiur in front of great Rabanim and Talmidim.
Also quoted in מרים שפירא - ויקיפדיה but see original in Tshuvat Maharshal (either in Intro or Siman 29 footnote)
