About Nancy Zieman
Nancy Zieman, longtime host of Wisconsin Public Television's "Sewing With Nancy," died Tuesday at 64 after a long battle with cancer, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "Sewing With Nancy" was the longest running sewing program on television, according to Wisconsin Public Television. The show currently airs on over 200 public television stations in over 130 markets across the country. Zieman was also the founder of Nancy’s Notions. The business sold fabrics and sewing books. Additionally, she was one of the creators of Quilt Expo, a popular annual event in Madison, Wisconsin. Jon Miskowski, Wisconsin Public Television's director of television, said in a statement, "Nancy was an entrepreneur, a talented television host, a dear friend to so many people at Wisconsin Public Television and a true Wisconsin treasure." Zieman's face was partially paralyzed due to Bell’s Palsy. She acquired the condition from an ear infection when she was a toddler. She wrote about the disease and hosted medical professionals on an episode of her show to discuss the condition. After her initial diagnosis of bone cancer, she bravely continued hosting the show until she announced her retirement in September. She is survived by her husband, Richard, their two sons, Ted and Tom, and her grandchildren.
