He is believed to have traveled with sons David and Moses to Whitely Cty Ky from Watauga Cty NC and Wayne Cty Ind.

1777 Nathan and Julia, along with her parents, moved to Camden, NJ across the Delaware River from Philadelphia, PA. The next year they started on the Philadelphia 800 mile road to Caswell, NC. The state of NC had not been divided into Tennessee until 1796. Nathan and his cousin Moses settled in Wilkes County on the Elk Creek of the Yadkin River. There was a alnd grant dated 1 January 1788 for 100 acres on Elk Creek to Nathan. Nathan received a land grant in Wilkes County, North Carolina May 18, 1787. This was on Elk Creek. Nathan raised his family in Wilkes County, North Carolina. He sold his farm in 1817 and moved to Wayne County, Indiana. Nathan's daughter, Prudence, married Daniel Jackson in Wilkes County, 8-11-1807 and they moved to the Indiana territory in 1812. The other members of the family followed in 1817. Nathan's son, John, did not move from Wilkes County but, David, Moses, Nathan Jr. and Elizabeth, did move with Nathan to Indiana. David, Moses and Elizabeth, later moved to Whitley County, Kentucky. News of the free land in Indiana, which was now a state, was sweeping Wilkes County at this time. The timber was so thick in Indiana that the ground could not dry out and the timber had to be cleared and the land drained before it could be used. Last Will and Testament of Nathan reads: In the name of God, Amen, I Nathan Stansbury, of the state of Indiana and the County of Wayne, being in my perfect senses though in a low state of health, do make this my last will and testament (to wit) as follows: After payment of all my just debts and funeral expenses (Imprimie) I give unto my son Moses, my sorrell horse known by the name of Ball. Also one hundred dollars in money to be laid out in land and further that said horse may be sold for money at his value (by David Stansburg) to help make payments for a piece of land by David Stansbury being accountable to Moses for his value in time to make payments for a piece of land in purchase. Also, my saddle, an axe and a hoe. (Imprimie) I give unto my daughter Elizabeth six plates, also twenty eight dollars and fifty cents in the hands of Daniel Jackson for money by him received for a horse sold to him. (Imprimie) I give to my son David one hundred dollars, also my wagon with all pertaining to it, together with the corn I have in my crib. Also, a kettle, some tools and other small articles. And I do finally by these present make Adam Banks my sole executor to see to this business being transacted according to law. In testimony whereof I have hereunto caused my name publically to be assigned this 13th day of February, 1819 in the presence of Adam Banks. Thomas P. Briggs, William Brison Nathan was named in his father's will proved 21 April, 1762 in NJ. Where? Some believe that Nathan was connected to the Elizabeth and Woodbridge NJfamilies. Nathan was among the early settlers of Wilkes NC. The 1787 Wilkes County, North Carolina Tax List Captain Isbell's District list Nathan Stanburywith 50 acres. Two of his children indicated in later records that theywere born in NC before that date. Nathan and Julie obtained original LandGrants for 100A & 25A in 1788 & 1799 in Upper Elk Creek, just east of thepresent town of Darby on Elk Creek. They farmed that land for abt 30years. Nathan is listed on the 1790 and 1800 Census in Wilkes Co. NC., inthe Morgan District. He is listed on jury duty in 1794 and in 1792 & 1796on road maiintenance. In 1817, after the death of his beloved wife, Julia, Nathan decided to move on to IN. Both of his tracts of land were sold in 1818 to DarbyHendrix. After the sale, Nathan and several of his sons moved to WayneIN, where his daughter, Prudence, had migrated. Nathan’s will is dtd 13 Feb 1819, recorded 15 Feb 1819. Children of Nathan and Julia Stansbury lived in the Wilkesboro area of Wilkes Co. NC. Nathan moved westward to Indiana in 1818-1819 with hisentire family, except John H. who remained in NC. In 1825 David moved hisfamily back to Kentucky and settled in Whitley Co. KY. Apparently allNathan’s sons moved to KY, except John who still remained in NC. Nathan’s will lists ch: David, Moses, Elizabeth.
