Osbern II Giffard d'Arques (de Bolebec)
Curator notes from Pam Wilson:
He was clearly a member of the family descended from Osbern de Bolebec, but whether he was a son or grandson is unclear. Thus it is unclear whether he was a brother to or a son of Godefroi Giffard, Vicomte d'Arques (Charles Cawley posits him as Godefroi's son; see below). So much depends upon the dates, and of those the evidence is very uncertain.
I have positioned him here as a possible son of Osbern de Bolebec and Avelina de Crepon, choosing to follow the first hypothesis below and to assume that the Osbern listed by Cawley in Medlands is a different Osbern of a later generation.
------------------------
According to this source, he would be the son of Osbern de Bolebec and brother of Gautier (Walter) Gyffard, Godefroi, and Josceline:
"With his brother Walter he assumed the name of Gyffard, fought with Duke William in the invasion of England, and received vast grants of land in co. Gloucester, where he held the manors of Brimesfield, Rochemterne, Alderberie, and Stoche., He settled at Brimesfield, and subsequently, in the time of King Stephen, a great castle was built there, which was the family residence until destroyed by the army of Edward II in 1322."

Brimpsfield is a village in Gloucestershire, England. The village is recorded in Domesday Book as "Brimesfelde." (from Wikipedia)
------------------------
From Cawley's perspective their was an Osbern who was a possible *son* of Godefroi Giffard, Vicomte d'Arques (who was a son of Osbern de Bolebec). This would make him a brother of the Guillaume (William) d'Arques who married Beatrice Malet. I am assuming that this is a different and separate Osbern.
