Patrick Dunbar of Cumnock and Mochrum, who married Margaret, daughter of sir Thomas Boyd, ancestor of the earls of Kilmarnock, by whom he had only three daughters, his co- heiresses.
1st, Euphemia, married to Sir James Dunbar, eldest son of Sir Alexander Dunbar of Westfield, Sheriff of Murray, who got with her the barony of Cumnock, in the shire of Ayr, but whose male-line is now extinct, as is shown under the title, Dunbar of Westfield.
2nd, Margaret, married to Sir John Dunbar, second son of the said Sir Alexander, who carried on the line of this family.
3, Janet, married to Patrick Dunbar, who got with her, part of the barony of Mochrum,
called Mochrum-Loch, the superiority of which lands Andrew Dunbar, descended of this Patrick, (having no male issue) disponed to Sir John Dunbar of Mochrum in the year 1556, by a charter dated 5th August that year.
These three marriages are instructed by many charters in the public register, and in Sir James Dunbar's possession, in the years 1474 and 1477.
