From Deed Book GG 1836-1837 pages 90-92 located at the Spotsylvania County Circuit Court

HICKS TO HICKS RELEASE 1837

This indenture made this 11th day of March in the year 1837 between
Thomas S. Hicks of the first part, Peter Hicks of the second part and Thomas Hicks of the third part.

Whereas the said Peter Hicks on the 5th day of June 1827 in order to secure payment of any debt or debts which might fall upon said Thomas Hicks as security for said Peter Hicks, did by Indenture of Trust of that date, convey to the said Thomas S. Hicks, his heirs & the following property to _________ _________ one hundred and eleven and half acres of land bounded by the lands of John Davenport, Lewis Coates Est., Rice Pendleton (now Martin Hicks), Ann Keegan and Robert Duvall heirs together with all the stock possessed by said Peter Hicks at that time and more fully described in said Indenture upon Trust for the uses and purposes in the said Indenture mentioned. And whereas since the executing and delivering of the said deed of Trust the said Peter Hicks hath fully satisfied & paid to the said Thomas Hicks all debts or claims whatever secured or intended to be secured by said deeds of trust which the said Thomas Hicks doth hereby acknowledge. Now this Indenture witnesseth, that for the consideration aforesaid as well as for the further consideration of one dollar in hand paid by the said Peter Hicks, to the said Thomas S. Hicks, at and before the unsealing and delivery of these present, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged he the said Thomas S. Hicks with the assent and approbation of said Thomas Hicks signifyed by his being party to these present and the said Thomas have, granted, bargained. and sold and by these present do grant bargain, sell and confirm unto the said Peter Hicks, all the estate rights, title, interest, claim, or demand both at law and Equity which the said Thomas S. Hicks and Thomas Hicks have or hold in the same and stock above described. To have and to hold the said Tract or parcel of same together with the aforesaid stock to the said Peter Hicks, his heirs __ forever to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Peter Hicks his heirs forever. And the said Thomas S. Hicks and Thomas Hicks, for themselves their heirs Ex_ the above mentioned land and stock unto the said Peter Hicks his heirs __ in as full and ample manor as the same was warranteed by the said Peter Hicks by deed of Trust above recited do warrant the same to the said Peter Hicks, against the claim or claims of them the said Thomas S. Hicks , and Thomas Hicks and all persons claiming by or under them, or by either of them. In _____where of the parties to these prescribed have here unto set their hands and affirmed their seals, the day and year above written.

Temperance DUMAS was married 3 times, and this is where things start getting interesting...

m/1 bef 1743 Robert YANCEY. He d bet 1743 and 1746 in Louisa Co, Va. I have not followed up on this to see what children they had if any.
m/2 Samuel Thomson, above, no issue.
m/3 aft 1753 Pewid HIX/HICKS.

Temperance DUMAS was the m-i-l of William Thomasson. She was also the 3rd wife of Samuel Thomson [about 21 yrs older than she] and was therefore the step-grandmother of her s-i-l William Thomasson.

This is pretty much all I know on the Thomasson family and I have not personally verified all of the information above.
