About Petrus Johannes Hendrik Botha, d6e5
Hy was n jong seun tydens die Groot Trek en het deelgeneem aan die rampspoedige trek van Louis Trichardt. Sy vader sterf in Delagoabaai. Sy moeder en al haar kinders oorleef die trek. Hy vestig homself uiteindelik op die plaas Rustig in die Bothaville distrik. Hy sterf n paar dae voor die uitbreek van die Anglo-Boereoorlog en word op die plaas begrawe. Ongelukkig het die begraafplaas op die plaas se drade later tot niet gegaan en is die grafstene deur beeste vernietig.

Hy kon deelgeneem het aan die Louis Tregardt trek. Hy sou 7-8 jaar oud wees in 1837, die vol jaar waarin die meeste gebeurtenisse plaasvind. Hy word nooit genoem nie, maar dit kon weens sy ouderdom gewees het. Daarby noem Preller [1] dat sy ma Antje Botha in Port Natal aankom met twee dogters en drie seuns. Die ander twee is Frederik en sy halfbroer Diederik Bezuidenhout.
Alhoewel dit so op sy sterfkennis staan, is ‘n geboorte in Natal in 1829 baie onwaarskynlik. Daar was toe nog net Engelse daar. Een of ander reis van sy moeder daarheen is al opsie, maar die kanse is laag.
