About Phillip Jacob Ashenfelter

Philip was born about 1716 in Germany. He married Anna Margaretha Moses there about 1741. He immigrated from Rotterdam to Philadelphia (on the ship Robert and Alice with Captain Martley Cusack, from Rotterdam by way of Cowes) about September 1742 and took his Oath of Allegiance Sept 24,1742. His first child, Johann Thomas, was born onboard ship on 14 Sep 1742. On arrival, they went to Montgomery Township where he had leased 125 acres of farmland. (another son, John Ludwig Eschenfelter , held 100 acres there in 1785) He later purchased land in Philadelphia. He passed away about 1773 in what is now Montgomery County, PA. Further notes state that Philip was one of three brothers who came to America. They were all millers.
