About Pte. Albert Victor Fisher
Albert Victor Fisher was born at Hobart in Tasmania, Australia, on 1 March 1882. His parents were Charles Victor Fisher and Sarah Jane Fisher (née Newman) who had married at Hobart on 22 November 1869. Charles died in Tasmania on 23 December 1894. Albert later emigrated to New Zealand. During World War I Albert served with the Auckland Infantry Regiment, 1st Battalion. He was killed in action at Ypres in Belgium on 29 July 1917. 35-year-old Albert was buried in the Mud Corner Cemetery [II. D. 18.]. Bio by Debbie McCauley (12 September 2024).
