About Pte. Frank Wroblewski
Frank Wroblewski [aka. Francis] was born at Stratford in the Taranaki region of New Zealand's North Island on 23 November 1893 (reg. 1894/4582). His parents were Joseph Wroblewski (né Jakubowski) and Bertha Johanna Wroblewski (née Hartke) who had married in New Zealand in 1878 (reg. 1878/2774). During World War I Frank served with the Canterbury Infantry Regiment, 3rd Battalion. His brother, Frederick William Wroblewski, also served but was killed in action at Gallipoli on 8 August 1915. Frank was killed in action two years later at Ypres on 28 December 1917. 24-year-old Frank was buried in the Buttes New British Cemetery [Spec. Mem. XII. AA. 5.].
