About Pte. Henry Doerr

Henry Doerr was born at Chelsea in the Kensington and Chelsea area of Greater London in England in 1891. His parents were Charles Frederick Doerr and Priscilla Elizabeth Doerr (nee Shelley) who had married on 10 June 1877. Charles died at Wandsworth in 1896 and and Priscilla lived at 374 Garratt Lane in Earlsfield in Wandsworth. On 7 April 1912 Henry married Daisy Diacon (b. 22 Dec. 1892) at Saint Andrew in Wandsworth. During World War I he served with the Durham Light Infantry, 1st 5th Battalion (Service No: WWI 200988). Henry was killed in action in Belgium on 12 April 1918. He is remembered on the Ploegsteert Memorial. Daisy is said to have remarried to a Mr Taylor and made her home in New Zealand. Bio by Debbie McCauley (4 November 2024).
